Fifty Shades of Grey

I'm starting to think that Spring is never going to happen, so I've been living in all shades of grey. It seems like a fitting color for this weather and plus, it's a staple here in NYC. I'm trying to introduce color into my wardrobe, but I'm not doing a good job at all. I did just buy this lipstick, so that's a start! Expect to see in a beauty post coming soon!

Shop this look: jacket from Ann Taylor - sold out, but similar here, jeans from Topshop - OBSESSED with this fit and bought in blue and cream, shirt from BB Dakota, handbag from Loeffler Randall, sunglasses from Elizabeth and James, sneakers from Converse, rings from a little shop in Santorini, vintage from my G-ma and Catbird on the right, Lorae RussoCartier, Caroline Ellen and Catbird again on the left.

Woolrich Weather

So, I’ll stop intro’ing every post with “life has been insane lately” because I’ve come to peace with this fact and it is what it is. And luckily, I have this blog as an escape. The part that sucks is this weather, so style posts will be on hold until the sun decides to come out. These photos, however, were taken after the first snowfall in NYC, which seems like so long ago. We didn’t make it any farther than our backyard.

Besides showing off my mom’s Woolrich coat from 25 years ago that I stole last time I was home (it happens), I thought I’d share what I’ve been up to outside of red carpet madness:

  • I’ve started to read this book because I liked the cover.
  • This product is my current beauty obsession and my skin has never looked so good - a major plus a week out before the big 3-2.
  • I think I’m going to buy these earrings and these running shoes as a nice little treat to myself.
  • Marissa Webb, Suno, Banana Republic and J.Crew have been my favorite shows during Fashion Week.
  • I finally got a few products from my Rent the Runway subscription service - this, this and this to be exact.
  • I bought UGGS! I’m still in denial, but bought these little leather booties in brown, which I think are cute.
  • I’m going through a baba ghanoush phase and can’t stop eating it.
  • I bumped into Nick Lachey last week at the airport in Cincinnati and we took a pic! The part of me that’s stuck in 10th grade was ecstatic.
  • My happy place is Friday Night Lights and I’ve been watching every night to shut my brain off - thank you, Tim Riggins.
  • I foresee my next happy place being LuckyShops.com - have you seen the new site since it launched last week? Game changer.

That’s it for now! I’m currently at my fave hotel 21c in Cincinnati for work (again) and about to chow down on this meal. I can’t wait! Be back soon.

Super Laid-Back Style

I know it's been a hot minute since I posted, but it's red carpet season, which tends to rule your life when you're in the beauty industry. I luckily had some time this weekend to catch up on the blog and we snapped this outfit post on our way to Berg'n - a beer hall and food court in Crown Heights. Not surprising, it was packed, but it's just one of those places that you have to go to so you can say you were there. However!!! - if you want a Ramen Burger, there was NO line so remember that.

Also, funny thing about this post - I've been planning this look for awhile now, ever since I discovered this tote when I talked about it here. It was originally going to be denim on denim, but then I came across this adorable sweater at my new fave shop & Other Stories. The last two pieces to complete the look were jeans and sneakers and I had it in my head that I wanted to wear mom jeans, so I bought these and another pair after hours of research. As you can see, I couldn't go through with it and basically I wasted a lot of time for nothing.

Later this week, I'm sharing a food and beauty post so until then, cheers!

A New Look for 2015

I've had a bit of writer's block lately hence the lack of posts. At first, I thought about sharing New Year's resolutions, which by the way, I feel like no one is making this year. Then, I thought about unleashing all of my new knowledge on nutrition thanks to this convincing documentary "Fed Up" (if you haven't watched yet, I highly recommend). And I've also had ways to combat stress on my mind - not surprising. As usual, my head is all over the place. So, I thought I might share a few updates to my blog!

1. The Home button that used to take you to interior design inspo now leads you to the homepage. It took me awhile, right? I've been trying to figure out how to make my header clickable, but I just can't figure it out, so I give up.

2. I've added a Shop button to the top navigation bar. Here, you'll see all of the fashion items I'm coveting. I really, really need to curb my shopping addiction, so I thought this would be a good way for me to share what I'm obsessing over lately without going broke.

3. I know I've been uploading mostly fashion and food content, but I'm working on some really fun beauty posts and I can't wait to share.

4. This is not an update yet, but could be. I'm thinking about launching a newsletter and would love to hear if you'd subscribe if this was an option. Every time a new blog post is added, you'd receive an email with a special note from me plus other cool content. What do you think? Share in the comments or simply like this post since I know most of you aren't talkers :)

So, that's it! I leave you with this very casual and cozy look. The husband and I took a field trip to the Natural History Museum and it was a mad house! Note to self and all of you - never go on the last day of the year. We did, however, find a secret entrance on Columbus and a cute area to snap some pics!
